IIT Mandi Sanchar Mitras Conduct Awareness Programme on Sanchar Saathi Portal at GSSS Kamand
Mandi, Himachal Pradesh:
The Sanchar Mitras team of Indian Institute of Technology Mandi conducted an informative awareness programme at Government Senior Secondary School Kamand to promote the Sanchar Saathi Portal and educate students and teachers about cyber safety and telecom security.
During the session, the team sensitized participants about rising telecom-related frauds and the importance of staying digitally vigilant. Students were guided on how to use the Sanchar Saathi Portal to report suspicious mobile numbers, check mobile connections issued in their name, block lost or stolen devices, and protect themselves from cyber fraud.
The programme also highlighted various citizen-centric initiatives of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), aimed at strengthening telecom security and empowering citizens with digital tools. Practical demonstrations were given to ensure that participants could confidently navigate the portal and utilize its services effectively.
Teachers and students actively participated in the interactive session, raising queries related to cyber threats, OTP frauds, SIM misuse, and online scams. The Sanchar Mitras emphasized responsible digital behavior and encouraged attendees to spread awareness within their communities.
The initiative reflects IIT Mandi’s continued commitment to supporting DoT’s outreach efforts and fostering a digitally secure and informed society. The programme concluded with a collective pledge by students and staff to report telecom fraud promptly and promote safe digital practices.
