HP LSA Reviews DBN Mobile Projects, BharatNet & RoW Issues in High-Level Meeting
The Himachal Pradesh Licensed Service Area (HP LSA) held a review meeting on 29.01.2026 under the chairmanship of the Secretary (DT&G), Government of Himachal Pradesh. The meeting focused on assessing the progress of major telecom infrastructure initiatives being implemented across the state.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the implementation status of DBN-funded mobile projects aimed at enhancing connectivity in uncovered and remote areas of Himachal Pradesh. Officials reviewed progress related to tower installation, site readiness, and backhaul connectivity, emphasizing the need for timely completion to ensure improved mobile coverage in rural and difficult terrains.
The progress under the Amended BharatNet Programme was also reviewed. The initiative, which aims to provide high-speed broadband connectivity to Gram Panchayats, was discussed in terms of fiber laying, service readiness, and coordination among implementing agencies. The Chair stressed the importance of accelerating work to strengthen digital infrastructure at the grassroots level.
The status of CBuD projects was examined, particularly in border and geographically challenging areas. Officials highlighted the need to ensure seamless connectivity in such regions to support both local communities and strategic requirements.
Right of Way (RoW) issues, especially those related to the Electricity Department, were also taken up during the meeting. Delays in granting permissions and providing power connections were discussed, and directions were issued to streamline inter-departmental coordination to avoid project bottlenecks.
Further, the meeting reviewed targets under National Broadband Mission (NBM) 2.0, with emphasis on fiberization of telecom towers, expansion of broadband services, and readiness for next-generation technologies. The Chair directed all concerned stakeholders to ensure close monitoring and timely achievement of set milestones.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to expedite telecom infrastructure development across Himachal Pradesh to enhance digital connectivity, particularly in remote and underserved areas.
