DoT HP LSA Conducts Awareness Programme at NPS School, Parwanoo
The Compliance Team of HP LSA under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) organized an awareness programme at NPS School, Parwanoo, to educate students and staff about the Sanchar Saathi Portal and to address common myths related to EMF radiation from telecom towers.
During the session, officials highlighted the importance of telecom safety and digital responsibility. Students were sensitized about various citizen-centric services available on the Sanchar Saathi Portal, including reporting suspected fraud calls, checking mobile connections issued in their name, and blocking lost or stolen mobile phones. The team emphasized how such initiatives empower citizens to protect themselves against cyber fraud and misuse of telecom resources.
A special segment of the programme focused on dispelling misconceptions regarding Electromagnetic Field (EMF) radiation emitted by mobile towers. The officers explained that telecom towers in India operate strictly within the safety norms prescribed by the government and international standards. Scientific evidence was presented to clarify that EMF radiation levels from mobile towers are regulated and monitored to ensure public safety.
The interactive session encouraged students to ask questions and actively participate in discussions about digital safety, responsible internet usage, and precautions against online scams. Informative material was also shared to reinforce awareness among young users, who are increasingly active in the digital ecosystem.
The school administration appreciated the initiative, stating that such awareness programmes are crucial in equipping students with the knowledge required to navigate today’s digital world safely and responsibly.
The programme concluded with a call for students to act as digital ambassadors in their communities by spreading awareness about telecom safety measures and the services offered through the Sanchar Saathi Portal.
