HP LSA, DoT Holds Meeting with HPSEBL to Expedite Power Connectivity for BharatNet and 4G Saturation Sites

HP LSA, Department of Telecommunications (DoT), conducted a meeting with the Director (Operations), Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL), Shimla on 16.04.2026 to discuss and expedite the provision of electricity connections in Gram Panchayats under the Amended BharatNet Program and at various 4G saturation sites across the State.

During the meeting, officials deliberated upon the challenges being faced in providing timely electricity connections at telecom infrastructure locations, particularly in remote and rural areas. The matter assumes significance as uninterrupted power supply is essential for the successful implementation and operation of BharatNet connectivity and 4G mobile services in uncovered villages.

HP LSA emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts between DoT and HPSEBL to ensure faster electrification of telecom sites so that digital connectivity can be extended to rural and underserved regions without delay. The discussion also covered mechanisms for streamlining the approval process, prioritizing pending electricity connections, and improving inter-departmental coordination.

The Director (Operations), HPSEBL assured full cooperation and informed that necessary steps would be taken for the early release of electricity connections at identified Gram Panchayats and 4G saturation locations.

The meeting is expected to significantly support the timely rollout of broadband and mobile connectivity infrastructure under the Amended BharatNet Program and the Government’s mission of achieving universal digital connectivity in Himachal Pradesh.
