Addl. DGT-cum-Advisor, HP LSA Visits 5G Lab at IIT Mandi; Reviews Citizen-Centric Initiatives

Shri Anil Kumar Gupta, Addl. DGT-cum-Advisor, HP LSA, Department of Telecommunications (DoT), visited the 5G Lab at Indian Institute of Technology Mandi on 02.02.2026. He was accompanied by DDG (T) and AD (T), HP LSA.

During the visit, the team reviewed the utilization and operational status of the 5G Lab, assessing the progress of ongoing research, development activities, and industry–academia collaboration. The officers appreciated the efforts being made to leverage 5G technology for innovation-driven solutions and capacity building among students and researchers.

Shri Gupta also held detailed discussions on various citizen-centric initiatives undertaken by the Department of Telecommunications, highlighting their impact on improving digital connectivity and telecom services across Himachal Pradesh. Special emphasis was laid on the DBN (Digital Bharat Nidhi) Project aimed at strengthening telecom infrastructure in rural and remote areas to bridge the digital divide.

The delegation interacted with the Sanchar Mitras associated with the institute, encouraging them to actively participate in outreach programs and spread awareness about telecom-related initiatives among the public. The interaction provided a platform for students to share feedback and suggestions regarding telecom services and digital inclusion.

The visit reaffirmed DoT’s commitment to promoting advanced telecom technologies, strengthening rural connectivity, and fostering collaboration between academia and government institutions for the holistic development of the telecom sector in the state.
