TIRUPATI: Alipiri police have detained a six-person gang for allegedly running a phoney phone exchange business that redirected foreign calls to domestic lines. Following a complaint of an unlawful telecom set-up operating in Tirupati made by the Department of Telecommunications director (security), GV Manoj Kumar, the police, under the direction of CI B Devendra Kumar, conducted a raid near the Leelamahal Center and detained six people. They also confiscated VoIP devices in addition to SIM boxes.
