DoT HP LSA Conducts Awareness Programme for Telecom Point of Sale in Dharamshala
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Himachal Pradesh Licensed Service Area (HP LSA), organized an awareness programme on Point of Sale (PoS) compliance at the Bharti Airtel office situated in Kotwali Bazaar, Dharamshala on 17.04.2026.
The programme was conducted by the team of HP LSA with the objective of sensitizing PoS representatives and telecom stakeholders regarding regulatory compliance, customer verification procedures, and provisions related to the Indian Telecommunications Act, 2023. Officials highlighted the importance of adhering to prescribed norms for SIM issuance and customer onboarding to prevent misuse of telecom resources and strengthen consumer security.
During the session, participants were briefed on various compliance requirements, digital KYC procedures, maintenance of records, and responsibilities of PoS personnel in ensuring transparent and lawful telecom service delivery. The programme also provided an interactive platform for resolving operational queries raised by PoS staff.
The initiative forms part of the ongoing efforts of DoT HP LSA to enhance awareness among telecom service providers and their franchise networks across Himachal Pradesh, ensuring effective implementation of telecom regulations and promoting secure telecom services for consumers.
