7th State Broadband Committee Meeting Reviews Digital Connectivity Progress in Himachal Pradesh

Shimla, February 24, 2026: The 7th Meeting of the State Broadband Committee of Himachal Pradesh was held on February 24, 2026, under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to the Government of Himachal Pradesh.

The meeting was convened by the Additional Director General of Telecom (DGT) and Advisor of the Himachal Pradesh LSA, functioning under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). The session focused on reviewing the progress of broadband expansion, strengthening telecom infrastructure, and addressing key challenges in improving digital connectivity across the state, particularly in remote and hilly regions.

Representatives from major telecom stakeholders participated in the meeting, including Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Digital Infrastructure Providers Association (DIPA), and Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI). The participants discussed collaborative measures to accelerate the rollout of high-speed broadband services and improve mobile network coverage throughout Himachal Pradesh.

Key agenda items included streamlining Right of Way (RoW) permissions, enhancing coordination among departments, and expediting the deployment of telecom towers and fiber networks. The committee emphasized the importance of robust digital infrastructure in supporting e-governance, education, healthcare, tourism, and economic growth in the state.

The Chair underscored the need for proactive coordination between state authorities and telecom service providers to ensure timely implementation of projects under various central and state government initiatives. The meeting concluded with a commitment from all stakeholders to work collectively towards achieving seamless and reliable broadband connectivity across Himachal Pradesh.
