Shimla, July 16 — In a proactive step toward enhancing consumer protection in the telecom sector, HP LSA organized a Sanchar Saathi awareness campaign at Government ITI, Shimla. The session aimed to educate students on critical initiatives developed to curb telecom fraud and reinforce mobile security.

📍 Empowering Through Awareness

With approximately 200 students in attendance, the event spotlighted several key platforms under the Department of Telecommunications:

  • CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) for tracing and blocking lost or stolen mobile phones
  • TAFCOP (Telecom Analytics for Fraud Management and Consumer Protection) to detect excess mobile connections
  • CHAKSU, a real-time alert system against fraudulent calls
  • KYM and KYI (Know Your Mobile / Identity) for verifying device and subscriber authenticity
  • RICWIN (Report Internet Calling WhatsApp Incident) enabling users to flag suspicious calls received via messaging apps

💬 Students engaged actively, gaining insight into how these tools work collectively to safeguard telecom consumers and strengthen digital trust.

🔍 A Commitment to Digital Safety

HP LSA’s efforts reflect a growing emphasis on responsible digital practices and informed usage of mobile technology. By targeting youth audiences at academic institutions, the campaign ensures that future consumers and professionals are equipped to navigate telecom services safely.
