EMF Testing Conducted Across Shimla and Kinnaur Districts

Shimla/Kinnaur, 24 June 2025 — Under the leadership of Additional Director General Telecom (Addl. DGT), Himachal Pradesh Licensed Service Area (HP LSA), comprehensive Electromagnetic Field (EMF) testing was conducted at 38 Base Transceiver Stations (BTSs) across Shimla and Kinnaur districts on 23rd and 24th June. The initiative was carried out in coordination with Deputy Director General (Compliance) [DDG(C)] and Assistant Director General (Compliance) [ADG(C)] to ensure adherence to prescribed EMF safety norms.

As part of the field assessment, key 4G sites in Sudharang, Kupro, Dhar Kila, Gue, and Lirit villages were visited. The teams verified compliance with EMF exposure limits and service quality benchmarks, reaffirming telecom infrastructure safety standards in the region.

Local residents expressed their satisfaction with the availability and performance of 4G services, noting improved connectivity and digital access in these remote areas. The positive response from villagers reflects growing trust in public safety measures and the government’s commitment to digital empowerment in hilly terrains.

This initiative underscores the Department of Telecommunications’ ongoing focus on public outreach and infrastructural transparency, ensuring that rural and semi-urban populations benefit equitably from technological advancement.
