POS Awareness Session Conducted by HP LSA Compliance Team
On 30.12.2025, a Point of Sale (POS) Awareness Session was organized by the Himachal Pradesh Licensed Service Area (HP LSA) Compliance Team of the Department of Telecommunications. The session aimed at strengthening regulatory compliance and enhancing vigilance among POS agents involved in the issuance of SIM cards.
The awareness programme specifically focused on the due diligence requirements while issuing SIM cards to foreign nationals and customers residing in areas close to international borders. POS agents were sensitized about the importance of strict adherence to Know Your Customer (KYC) norms, verification of valid documents, and compliance with security-related guidelines issued by the Department of Telecommunications.
During the session, the compliance team highlighted potential security implications arising from improper SIM issuance and emphasized the responsibility of POS agents in preventing misuse of telecom resources. Detailed discussions were held on prescribed procedures, documentation requirements, and best practices to be followed in sensitive and border-adjacent areas.
The initiative reflects the continued efforts of HP LSA to ensure secure, transparent, and compliant telecom operations in the state, while reinforcing the role of POS agents as a crucial link in safeguarding national security and consumer interests.
