Ensuring Connectivity During Disaster
In the wake of a devastating cloudburst and flash floods in Tehsil Thunag, District Mandi, Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) are working on a war footing to restore critical communication infrastructure and ensure uninterrupted connectivity for affected residents.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has activated Intra-Circle Roaming (ICR) in Tehsil Thunag as of July 2, 2025. This measure allows subscribers to access mobile services across networks, even if their primary provider’s infrastructure is temporarily down, ensuring that emergency communication remains possible.
The swift response by TSPs and the proactive coordination by DoT underscore the importance of resilient telecom infrastructure in disaster-prone regions. Restoration efforts are ongoing, with teams deployed on the ground to repair damaged equipment and re-establish full network coverage.
The Department of Telecommunications (@Dot_India) continues to monitor the situation closely and is committed to supporting the people of Himachal Pradesh during this critical time.
