DoT Honours North Zone Police Units for Outstanding Use of CEIR in Tracing Stolen Mobile Devices

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) organized the North Zone Security Conference on 6th November 2025, where 10 District and Railway Police Units from various North Zone States and Union Territories were felicitated with Certificates of Appreciation for their outstanding performance in recovering stolen and lost mobile devices using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) platform.

The CEIR system, an initiative of DoT, enables swift tracing, blocking, and recovery of lost or stolen mobile phones, significantly supporting law enforcement agencies in tackling mobile-related crimes and preventing misuse of stolen handsets.

Senior DoT officials lauded the dedicated efforts of the awarded police units for their effective utilization of digital tools and commitment to citizen service delivery. The recognition underscores the growing synergy between DoT and State Police Departments in building a secure, transparent, and technology-driven telecom ecosystem across the nation.

The initiative also reinforces DoT’s mission to promote digital vigilance, cyber safety, and public trust through the efficient implementation of citizen-centric tools like CEIR.
