Addl. DG(T), HP LSA Reviews Telecom Readiness and BharatNet Roll-Out in Solan District
Solan, September 6, 2025:
In a significant move to assess the progress of rural connectivity initiatives, the Additional Director General (Telecom), Himachal Pradesh Licensed Service Area (HP LSA), conducted an official visit to Solan district on September 6, 2025. The visit included inspections at Gram Panchayat Kotla, Block Headquarters Dharampur, and the State Network Operations Centre (SNOC).
The primary objective of the visit was to evaluate the current state of telecom infrastructure and to monitor the progress of the Amended BharatNet Project—India’s ambitious program aimed at providing high-speed broadband connectivity to rural and remote areas.
During the visit to Gram Panchayat Kotla and Dharampur Block HQ, the Addl. DG(T) reviewed the on-ground infrastructure, fiber network deployment, and last-mile connectivity solutions. Discussions were also held with local officials and implementing agencies to identify challenges and ensure timely completion of project milestones.
At the SNOC, the Addl. DG(T) reviewed network performance dashboards, real-time data analytics, and the centralized monitoring mechanisms in place to track BharatNet roll-out across the state. Emphasis was laid on improving service delivery and ensuring reliable connectivity to digitally empower rural communities.
The visit underlined the government’s commitment to bridging the digital divide in Himachal Pradesh and enhancing digital access for governance, education, health, and entrepreneurship at the grassroots level.
Officials from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Bharat Broadband Network Limited (BBNL), local administration, and project implementation partners accompanied the Addl. DG(T) during the visit.
