Addl. DGT, HP LSA Reviews Amended BharatNet Project Works in Kullu District

Shri Anil Kumar Gupta, Additional Director General of Telecom (Addl. DGT), Himachal Pradesh Licensed Service Area (HP LSA), Department of Telecommunications (DoT), visited Kullu district on 11.12.2025 to review the progress of works under the Amended BharatNet Project.

During the visit, Shri Gupta inspected the ongoing pole installation and aerial optical fibre cable (OFC) laying works being carried out in the district. He closely reviewed the execution of works at site to assess adherence to prescribed technical specifications, safety norms, and overall quality standards.

Shri Gupta interacted with site engineers and BSNL representatives, emphasizing the importance of maintaining high standards of workmanship to ensure long-term reliability and robustness of the BharatNet infrastructure. He highlighted that timely completion and quality execution of the project are crucial for strengthening rural broadband connectivity and enabling digital inclusion in remote and underserved areas.

The field inspection and interactions provided an opportunity to address site-level challenges, clarify technical aspects, and reinforce coordination among implementing agencies. The visit reaffirmed DoT’s commitment to effective monitoring and successful implementation of the Amended BharatNet Project for enhancing broadband services across Himachal Pradesh.

Hybrid workshop for BSNL Telangana officers on the Call Before U Dig (CBuD) application on 31-12-25

On December 31, 2025, the Rural Team of AP LSA, Hyderabad, hosted a hybrid workshop for BSNL Telangana officers on the Call Before U Dig (CBuD) application. The session was attended by 13 officials in person and 60 online from various OA’s including circle office.

Sh. A Sravan Kumar, ITS, Director (Rural), emphasized the App’s role in safeguarding underground assets. Stressed the need for increased enquiry counts and the mandatory handover of CBuD credentials during staff transfers. Highlighted the Telecommunications Act, 2023, noting that posting enquiries is mandatory and failure to do so involves compensation liabilities. Practical challenges raised by BSNL were recorded for higher-level review and immediate queries were addressed. BSNL Officers were instructed to post all upcoming digging activities and proactively report asset damage caused by third-party excavations not disclosed through the app.
