Addl. DGT-cum-Advisor Visits JNGEC Sundernagar, Interacts with Sanchar Mitras

Shri Anil Kumar Gupta, Addl. DGT-cum-Advisor, HP LSA, visited Jawaharlal Nehru Govt. Engineering College, Sundernagar on 03.02.2026 along with DDG (T) and AD (T) as part of ongoing outreach initiatives aimed at strengthening citizen-centric telecom services in the region.

During the visit, the team met the Director of the college and held detailed discussions on the role of academic institutions in promoting digital awareness and responsible use of telecom resources. The interaction highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts between the Department of Telecommunications and educational institutions in ensuring effective implementation of telecom policies at the grassroots level.

A key highlight of the visit was an interactive session with the Sanchar Mitras. The officers encouraged the students to actively participate in spreading awareness about telecom safety, digital fraud prevention, EMF awareness, grievance redressal mechanisms, and responsible use of communication technologies. Emphasis was laid on citizen-centric initiatives such as consumer grievance redressal platforms, awareness about illegal telecom setups, and ensuring quality telecom services in rural and semi-urban areas.

Shri Gupta appreciated the enthusiasm and proactive involvement of the Sanchar Mitras and motivated them to act as ambassadors of digital literacy and telecom awareness within their communities. The Director of the college assured full support to the Department in conducting future awareness programs and collaborative activities.

The visit reinforced the commitment of HP LSA towards strengthening telecom governance, enhancing public awareness, and promoting secure and inclusive digital connectivity across Himachal Pradesh.
