Message from Mumbai LSA Head.

Telecommunications is a vital tool for economic development , digital inclusion, and national security. Thus , telecommunications networks and services are essential components for transforming the country into a digitally empowered society. The Mumbai LSA office has been playing a key role in ensuring a robust telecommunications infrastructure by focusing on safety and security aspects , monitoring service quality, and supporting timely policy implementation .

The Mumbai LSA comprises seven municipal corporations. Six TSPs primarily provide access services in the Mumbai region , 15 ILDOs and 15 NLDOs provide international and national long-distance connectivity, and over 380 ISPs provide internet services in the region. Mumbai has approximately 3.6 million wired lines and 34 million mobile connections. All villages in the Mumbai LSA are covered by 4G connectivity.

So far this year , the Mumbai LSA team has worked diligently to facilitate the rollout of next-generation networks , enhance telecom preparedness for disaster response and public safety , address public grievances , ensure compliance with EMF safety norms , audit CAFs , educate PoS , and coordinate with service providers and local authorities for infrastructure development. This year , the LSA granted 19 ISP licenses and registered 94 M2M service
providers. The LSA conducted seven EMF awareness programs , eight test drives to measure mobile service quality (including call drops) , seven PoS awareness programs , blacklisted 80 non-compliant PoS , provided CLIR facility to customers
, and performed MRO of 87 5G BTS.

The Mumbai LSA office works closely with the Maharashtra State Government and other semi-government and autonomous institutions to provide seamless connectivity , resolve network coverage issues , improve user experience , promote 5G use cases , improve rural area coverage , participate in the PM Janman and Dajagua projects for tribal areas , enhance security of underground assets through the CBUD app , improve cyber security and sanitation. The LSA raises issues of the telecom industry with the State Government and other state bodies to further the goal of providing affordable telecom services to all citizens.

I take this opportunity to commend the dedication and efforts of all the officers and employees of the Mumbai LSA. We are committed to working with the same enthusiasm and dedication to ensure that Mumbai remains a leader in telecommunications excellence.

Launch of ” RISK SHIELD ” a new product @ CASHFREE PAYMENTS, Global Fintech, Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai.

Today honoured to host Smt. Sunita Chandra D.G Telecom DoT & Smt.Subha N Bhambhani Addl. D.G Telecom at Mumbai LSA office. Shri Asheesh Pathak Additional DGT Mumbai LSA with other senior officers had privilege to welcome both the officers. DGT Madam has reviewed the work of LSA.

आज हिन्दी पखवाड़ा के अंतर्गत पुरस्कार वितरण कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया। इस अवसर पर सभी अधिकारी से अनुरोध किया गया की अपने दैनिक कार्यों में अधिक से अधिक हिंदी भाषा का प्रयोग करें।

Meeting with RBI CGM, Smt Pushpamitra Sahu on 24.09.2025, for FRI integration with UCC Banks

Mumbai LSA, DoT organised an Orientation Program for Sanchar Mitras on 26 Sep 2025. About 70+ students from 8 Premier institutions of Mumbai volunteered as Sanchar Mitras. Sessions on Sanchar Saathi, Tarang Sanchar, Cyber fraud, EMF Radiation, & 5G use cases were made.

Under the leadership of Additional DGT DoT Mumbai LSA Sh.Asheesh Pathak sir, all the officers and contractual staff of Mumbai LSA, took part in cleaning driver of Juhu Beach Mumbai under Swachhata Abhiyan.

स्वच्छता की भागीदारी – नागरिक एवं सामुदायिक सहभागिता गतिविधियाँ* मुंबई एलएसए ने एसएनडीटी महिला कॉलेज, मुंबई के विशेष बच्चों के लिए पोस्टर मेकिंग प्रतियोगिता का आयोजन किया। मुंबई एलएसए के अतिरिक्त महानिदेशक श्री आशीष पाठक ने विजेताओं को पुरस्कार वितरित किए।

स्वछता की भागीदारी सप्ताह के तहत दिनांक:20.09.2025 को सैंट लॉरेंस स्कूल, सांताक्रूज मैं दूर संचार विभाग मुंबई द्वारा स्वछता की भागीदारी पर निबंध प्रतियोगता कराई गयी। जिसमे बच्चों ने उत्साह पूर्वक हिस्सा लिया।

Doordarshan covered the license signing event and took sound bites of the licensees. Shri Asheesh Pathak, Additional DGT Mumbai LSA was interviewed by Doordarshan on several initiatives of DoT like Sanchaar Saathi App, Citizen-centric measure, ease of doing business etc.
