Message from Mumbai LSA head

It gives me immense pleasure and pride to share the technology driven transformations happening in Indian telecom sector. The telecom industry in India is the second largest in the world with a subscriber base of over 1.17 billion (Wireless + wireline). The industry’s exponential growth over the last few years is primarily driven by affordable tafif, wider availability, rollout of MNP, introduction of 5G and evolving  consumption patterns of subscribers. The telecom sector in India is the third largest sector in terms of FDI  inflows, contributing to 6.44% of total FDI inflows. The sector supports 2.2 million jobs directly and 1.8 million jobs indirectly in the country. After launch of 5G services in India on October 1, 2022 by Hon’ble Prime Minister, the deployment of 5G services is happening at a very fast speed across the country.

In Mumbai LSA, more than 10,000 5G BTSs have already been installed by the Telecom Service providers. The mobile customers of Mumbai LSA have started enjoying the benefits of 5G services. In another significant development, India, recently, issued Bharat 6G  Vision statement with aim to design, develop and deploy 6G network technologies that provide ubiquitous, intelligent and secure connectivity for high quality living experience for the world. By doing so, our country seems to have taken a big leap into future.

I am hopeful as well as optimistic that Mumbai LSA shall ensure that latest telecom facilities/services are made available to the citizens across Mumbai Licensed Service Area to fully harness the tremendous potential offered by telecom services and reduce the digital divide.

I would like to request the users to provide their valuable feedback at srddg.mum-dot@gov.in
