Gujarat Licensed Service Area (LSA) is headquartered in the vibrant city of Ahmedabad and holds authority over the entire State of Gujarat, as well as the Union Territories of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu. As a crucial field unit operating under the Office of the Director General of Telecommunications (DGT), Department of Telecommunications (DoT), New Delhi, Gujarat LSA plays a pivotal role in representing the telegraph authority in its designated area. At the helm of Gujarat LSA is an accomplished and dedicated Additional Director General Telecom, a distinguished Group ‘A’ officer of the Indian Telecommunication Service (ITS).

The inception of Gujarat LSA dates back to 2006 when it was originally established as the Vigilance Telecom Monitoring (VTM) cell. Its primary objectives were to combat illegal and clandestine telecom operations while ensuring strict adherence to the licensing conditions prescribed by DoT HQ. Over the years, the responsibilities of VTM cells expanded significantly, leading to a transformation into the Telecom Enforcement, Resources, and Monitoring (TERM) cell in 2008.

As part of a continuous improvement process, the structure was further refined in 2017, resulting in the formation of LSA units. These units integrate the functions of TERM, Security, New Technology (NT), and Public Grievances (PG), thereby streamlining operations and enhancing efficiency.

Gujarat LSA takes on diverse responsibilities, including monitoring and ensuring compliance with license conditions and roll-out obligations by Telecommunication Service Providers (TSPs), Internet Service Providers (ISPs), and Infrastructure Providers (IPs). The office is also committed to upholding the national security laws, playing a critical role in safeguarding the nation’s interests. Another essential aspect of Gujarat LSA’s work involves regulating Electromagnetic Field (EMF) radiation limits to guarantee the safety and well-being of the public and the environment.
