Message from HP LSA head

Department of Telecom is working hard to improve & strengthen telecommunication services in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The state has mountains, steep hills, and small & remote villages that are far away from each other. Because of this, installing and maintaining mobile towers and other telecom equipment in remote places is extremely difficult. Even with these challenges, our goal is to make sure that people in every part of the state have good & trusted telecom connectivity, so citizens can utilize Government schemes & services easily and get connected with all over the world and be in touch with the latest developments. Good & reliable telecommunication services are very important for the growth and development of our communities. Our main objective is to monitor, improve, strengthen & expand the network so that telecom services work well throughout the state. We also want the network to stay strong & resilient during natural disasters like landslides, heavy rains, and cloudbursts. By focusing on building strong infrastructure and its proactive monitoring, we try to keep the telecom network availability round the clock, especially during emergencies when people need it the most. Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) are also providing latest technologies like 5G in the state of Himachal Pradesh. 5G technology is providing faster internet and better communication services to the citizens of the state. With better connectivity, people can easily get information, learn new things, and access all the important services in their day-to-day life. Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) are giving faster internet facility of broadband connections to people through optical fibre cables. The optical fibre cables can carry huge amount of data very quickly, which makes the internet fast and reliable. Because of this, life has changed a lot for people in the state. Now, students can study online, people can work from home, people’s businesses can grow, and everyone can easily access information and services. This fast internet has made daily life easier and more connected for all citizens. Providing good quality telecom service is very important & a priority for us. To check network quality, we conduct mobile drive tests in different areas of Himachal Pradesh. Whatever data we collect during the drive tests helps us to improve the network and give people a better experience of telecom services. In addition to striving for better telecom networks, we are also focus on safety and awareness for citizens. Under our Citizen-Centric initiatives, the Sanchar Saathi app helps mobile users stay safe, become aware about important telecom services and key initiatives of the Department of Telecommunications. People can use this app on their mobile phones or through a website. We also organize awareness programs periodically across the state. In these programs, people learn about –
  1. Cyber Security,
  2. Telecom fraud, and
  3.  Electromagnetic Radiation.
We have also launched and implemented a new mobile app called Call Before You Dig (CBUD). This app helps to protect underground infrastructure and utilities of both government and private entities, whenever any digging works is carried out.
The Himachal Pradesh LSA works in close coordination with the State Government, Telecom Service Providers (TSPs), Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and citizens. We thank all the stakeholders for their unwavering support in solving the challenges faced by us to meet our defined goals.
Our dream is to make Himachal Pradesh a fully connected state, where everyone can communicate easily. Better communication will help the state grow, support new ideas, and help people stay connected during emergencies. We will continuously work upon to improve telecom services across Himachal Pradesh.
